Councillor for Deagon Ward Jared Cassidy, has said the long awaited upgrade to the Sandgate Pool is about to get underway with the upgrade to the water play area set to start in April.
“This first step in upgrading the Sandgate Pool is really exciting news for local families” Cr Cassidy said.
“The water play area will receive a $500,000 upgrade this year, beginning around April and continuing through the winter months. Kids will see new water sprays, slides and a tipping bucket”.
“Local families will be able to enjoy this fantastic new area when the pool re-opens after the winter closure”.
“These upgrades have been a long time coming and while I know locals have been very patient in waiting, they have waited long enough”.
Council and the Lessee are continuing with plans to upgrade the facilities to meet contemporary standards with a new 25 meter heated pool and upgraded change rooms, showers, toilets and learn to swim facilities.
