Councillor for Deagon Ward Jared Cassidy is thrilled that a new Development Application for the upgrade of the Sandgate Pool has now been lodged with Council.
He said the long awaited upgrade to the Sandgate Pool is now one big step closer with plans with Council now.
The previous DA, which had been subject to court action was withdrawn.
“This new DA shows a significant investment by both Council and the Pool Lessee, Australian Crawl in the Sandgate Aquatic Centre” Cr Cassidy said.
“Some of the new features will include a brand new 10 lane indoor heated 25 metre pool, new change facilities, upgraded kiosk, expanded carpark and new gym”.
“Local residents have been waiting for years for this upgrade to get underway and with the recent upgrades to the children’s water play equipment, this will be a great addition to our area”.
“This development application is subject to approval by Council before works can start, but hopefully we will see construction start next year”.
“The new indoor heated pool will be fully accessible and will include a ramp for wheelchairs and small children”
“The upgrade will also expand the car parking area to take pressure off other parking in Flinders Parade”.
The pool operating hours will be 5.30AM-7.00PM Monday-Friday, 6.00AM-6.00PM Saturday, 8.00AM-6.00PM Sunday. The gym operating hours will be the same as the pool except closing at 8.30PM on weekdays.
