Third Avenue Sandgate has been selected as one of 17 streets in Brisbane to be included in a trial of LED street lighting.
The trial is being run as a joint initiative between Brisbane City Council and Energex in an effort to move towards more energy efficient streets. It will include the use of 10 different types of LED lights. These lights have the capability to decrease street light energy consumption by up to 60% city wide.
“This trial will be a great opportunity to ensure that LED lighting is suitable for use as street lighting and hopefully lead to a much more widespread use of the energy efficient lighting across the area, and Brisbane more broadly” Cr Cassidy said.
‘I look forward to seeing the feedback from residents in Third Avenue on the suitability of this trial”.
“The new LED lights are expected to require less inspections and less frequent cleaning”
