Park users will be able to add a gym circuit to their routine while using the Sandgate Foreshore from next year.

Councillor for Deagon Ward Jared Cassidy said the new outdoor gym would be installed near Arthur Davis Park on the Sandgate Foreshore.

“We were able to secure funding in this year’s budget for this outdoor gym and after assessing possible locations, Arthur Davis Park was chosen as its close to toilet and other park facilities and the children’s playground”.

“This is good news for local residents wanting to get a bit more out of their daily walk along the foreshore”.

Heart Foundation statistics show that nearly 40% of adults are not exercising enough for heart and general health.

“Not enough Queenslanders are active enough for health benefits. Physical inactivity is a risk factor for heart disease and for many other chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer and mental illness”.

“Arthur Davis Park will be a real hub of activity, with a great playground for the kids, outdoor gym and Sandgate Parkrun running every Saturday from 7am”.

The outdoor gym will include resistance based equipment like shoulder press, step ups, beck extension, dexterity bar, leg press and shoulder wheel and a pull up bar.

The outdoor gym will be designed to be used in a circuit with multiple people able to use it at the same time.
