After a long period of consultation and design the Brisbane City Council is ready to launch the refresh of the Sandgate Suburban Centre Improvement Project (SCIP).

Councillor for Deagon Ward Jared Cassidy, has welcomed the upgrade which will see a significantly improved entrance to the main street of Sandgate for locals and visitors alike.

“The main focus of the works will concentrate on the Bowser Parade area with new footpaths, new furniture, gardens and trees” Cr Cassidy said.

“Brighton Road will also see a refresh with new furniture, gardens and seating area where the existing sandstone sculpture is”.

“Unfortunately we will see the sandstone sculpture removed due to cracking damage but this will be replaced with a seating area where people and sit and relax under the trees”.

“This refresh will give a real boost to the businesses in Sandgate and provide a much better experience for people shopping and visiting”.

“We are also rolling out free high speed Wi-Fi throughout Sandgate over the coming months which will coincide with this renewal.

The project is due to be completed by mid-2017
